To preach the Gospel to our world and to the Delaware Valley community. We believe that the Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ died on a cross for the sins of the world, that all might be saved through him. Our congregation exists for the sole purpose of proclaiming that message, as Paul said, "For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified." (1 Corinthians 2:2)
St. Mark's is a parish of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. For over sixty years, we have preached the Gospel, baptized sinners young and old into fellowship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, and received the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. We currently support foreign missions in Liberia, Kyrgyzstan, Siberia, France, and Haiti, as well as local missions in the Philadelphia area through Philadelphia Lutheran Ministries.
Pastor Thomas Engler is the man called by God to preach the Word of God and administer His Holy Sacraments at St. Mark's. Pastor Arthur Boone, called minister at Nazareth in Northeast Philadelphia, conducts our Wednesday evening services, as well as teaching God's Word and visiting the ill and shut-ins throughout the week.
